Victor Yaw Asante is a banking professional who devotes considerable time to humanitarian activities especially those that involve children and believes we all have a duty to mentor the next generation to be better than what we became.

Education:

Victor had his secondary education at Opoku Ware School and holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Agricultural Economics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and an MBA from the University of Ghana (Legon) Business School.

Professional Qualifications/Membership:

Victor is a member of Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) for both UK and Ghana. He has been trained at very notable organizations and attended programs like the Rand Merchant Bank Lead Program and INSEAD Singapore Impact your Leadership Program among others.

Professional/Work Experience:

His career commenced two and half decades ago in 1996 as a sales and marketing professional with Unilever Ghana Limited. After two years at that organization Victor joined Merchant Bank (now Universal Merchant Bank) where he worked in the Marketing, Corporate Relations and Corporate Banking functions before moving to Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited.

Victor worked for a decade in Standard Chartered Bank Group where he served variously as the bank’s Managing Director and Head of Corporate & Institutional Clients at its Botswana subsidiary, and as Managing Director and Regional Head of Transaction Banking, based in Ghana with additional responsibilities over other West African countries including Cameroun, Cote D’Ivoire, Gambia and Sierra Leone.

Victor then moved to First National Bank Ghana, a subsidiary of the First Rand Group of South Africa, where he was the Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking with oversight responsibility for Commercial Banking Business.

Victor is currently the MD/CEO for FBN Bank Ghana, a subsidiary of Nigeria’s oldest Bank, First Bank.

Rotary Life:

Victor started his rotary journey in the university as a Rotaractor with the Rotaract Club of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology where he was chair for Vocational services. In 2006, he was inducted into the Rotary Club of Accra – Ring Road Central and loaned the classification Corporate Banking.

He is a Major Donor, a Paul Harris Society Fellow and a Benefactor.

He is a Past Club President of Rotary Club of Accra-Ring Road Central (2011-2012) and a Past Assistant Governor of District 9012 (2014 – 2018)  Prior to these positions, he was club director for Service Projects, PR & Fundraising, Rotary Foundation and Leadership. He was a member of the club extension committee that chartered five new Rotary clubs in 8 years. He has also served recently as an extension committee member for a new club.

At the District and Country levels, he served as PR Chair; District Governor’s Special Representative for Rotary Club of Accra-Dzorwulu; two times Convention Promotion Convener; Chair for Council of Rotary Club Presidents of Ghana and become District Governor Nominee in 2020.

He is a Member of Ghana Extension Committee and Resource Person at Rotary District 9102 Training Seminars in Ghana. He has been an Aide to Past Rotary International President Raja Saboo at Rotary International Zone Institute (Accra 2017) and to EMGA Emmanuel Katangoli, District 9102 Conference 2021.

He was nominated by his club and subsequently selected to serve as District Governor for Rotary District 9102 in the Rotary year 2022-23

Victor has attended eleven (11) District Assembly Training & Conference (Accra 2008, Lome, 2009, Ouagadougou 2010, Accra 2011, Accra 2014, Lome 2015, Cotonou 2016, Accra 2017, Niamey 2018, Accra 2019, Lome 2020 (Virtual), Accra 2021; District hand overs in Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Togo and Benin; three (3) Rotary Zone Institutes (Accra 2017, Kampala 2020, Yaoundé 2021) and Eleven (11) Rotary International Conventions (Birmingham 2009, New Orleans 2011, Bangkok 2012, Lisbon 2012, Sydney 2014, Sao Paolo 2015, Seoul 2016, Atlanta 2017, Hamburg 2019, Hawaii 2020 (Virtual) and Taipei 2021 (Virtual)

Hobbies and Family:

His hobbies include Travelling, Playing Golf and Scrabble, Voluntary Work and Soccer. He has two children, Nana Kwame and Maame Yaa.
